Accessibility ANED website

The ANED website complies with W3C Accessibility Initiative Guidelines (WAIG) for priority level 2 (WAI/AA). The site was tested with a positive result using Internet Explorer(6), Firefox(1.5), Netscape(6.2) Supernova, Zoomtext and Jaws(6).

Images on the site contain 'alt tags,' which aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader, rather than reading the site. Likewise, a 'skip to' link provides these users with a method for bypassing the main menu and going directly to the main content each time a page is accessed.

Relative font sizes are used, so that a user can enlarge the font size (e.g. by using CTRL+ to magnify the text).

The site contains a Sitemap, indexing all the pages currently available, including sections on each page. The Sitemap is generated dynamically, which ensures that it will be up to date at all times.

We welcome your comments on the accessibility of the website.

Userite certificate

The ANED website was developed with acccessibility as one of the requirements. To ensure that the site would meet that requirement we asked Userite to test the site before launching.

As a result the Userite level 2 certificate has been obtained because ‘the webdesigner had taken reasonable steps to ensure that the complete website complied with the priority 2 (level AA) World-Wide-Web Consortium Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines (version 1) when Userite inspected it'.
