The Work of ANED on employment

A key part of ANED's work on Employment is to contribute to policy evaluation within the Open Method of Co-ordination. In particular, ANED has played a role in reviewing and commenting on the National Reform Programmes (NRPs) and Implementation Reports that have been produced each year by the EU Member States, within the context of the Lisbon Strategy for Growth and Jobs.

In 2008, ANED produced national reports on employment policies (also updated in 2009) and a rapporteur's synthesis report. Using this initial evidence as a basis, the Member States' NRPs for 2008-2010 were critically reviewed to assess their coverage of disability issues. This process was then repeated for the Member States' Implementation Reports submitted in 2009.

A consolidated synthesis report addressing the disability dimension of the OMC reporting was prepared, covering both the overall situation and specific developments in each country. This includes commentary on both targeting and mainstreaming of disability issues, and develops recommendations for improvements in the reporting of disability data and policies.
